Mobile Knowledge Welcomes Luxor Cabs of San Francisco
Cabmate Dispatch with CMT Next Generation Platform Drives Enhanced Customer Service
Mobile Knowledge is very pleased to welcome Luxor Cabs of San Francisco to its esteemed list of Cabmate clients. Luxor has been a leading provider of transportation services to the City of San Francisco for more than 85 years. Since its inception, Luxor has strived to deliver a premier experience to its corporate accounts and the riding public at large, investing in technology that provides superior customer service for its passengers and operating efficiencies for its drivers.
In recent years, the City of San Francisco has become a proving ground for all types of technologies aimed at connecting passengers with drivers. These range from electronic hitch-hiking to virtual dispatch companies, targeting wealthy travellers able to pay a “bounty” to jump the queue. At the same time, the City of San Francisco has mandated in-vehicle payment, and dispatch technology for its legitimate fleet operators, in a bid to enhance accessibility and availability of the City’s licensed for-hire transportation vehicles.
Luxor’s move to the Mobile Knowledge Cabmate dispatch system is complemented by the company’s installation of the Passenger Information and Payment technology from Creative Mobile Technologies (“CMT”). This in-vehicle equipment includes an 8” Passenger Information Monitor (“PIM”), Driver Information Unit (“DIU”), and PCI certified payment gateway integrated with the vehicle’s taximeter. In addition to facilitating credit card payments, the CMT PIM also allows users of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s paratransit debit card program to swipe their MUNI cards to pay for their rides. The CMT technology is approved by the City of San Francisco, and certified under the State of California Type Evaluation Program, as well as the National Conference of Weights and Measures. The accessibility features for the blind and visually impaired it pioneered (“VIP Mobile”) in conjunction with contributions from advocacy groups including Lighthouse International (www.lighthouse.org), a national not for profit organization dedicated to fighting vision loss through prevention, treatment and empowerment.
The Cabmate dispatch system deployed by Luxor is widely recognized for its capacity to manage tens of thousands of reservations per day, flexible dispatching methods, and advanced feature set including the latest web based Vtrack vehicle tracking portal, customized TaxiHail passenger booking application for Android, iOS and the web, along with SMS technology that alerts passengers when their vehicle has been assigned, and when it has arrived at the pick-up address. Deployed in a fully virtual server environment, Cabmate offers exceptional reliability and redundancy for fleets that operate 24x7x365.
Mr. John Lazar, President of Luxor Cabs commented on this transition, “The City’s recent mandates gave us the opportunity to re-evaluate the technology available for our operations, as well as the partners with whom we will move forward with in the years ahead. Mobile Knowledge and CMT both demonstrated their commitment to our unique marketplace, and the flexibility of their solutions in addressing the City’s regulations as well as our own business requirements.”
Mobile Knowledge President Kevin French reiterated his appreciation for Luxor’s decision. “We take great pride in working with great clients, and Luxor is clearly a leading operator in San Francisco. We are honored to support John and his team in their efforts to re-define customer service in this exciting and dynamic market.”
